Jeff is starting his third season at the Muskegon Community College Golf Course, where he performs a variety of services.
He was nominated for the award by Stacey DeBrot, Director of Auxiliary Services at MCC. She said Jeff consistently goes above and beyond his regular responsibilities to support his coworkers and ensure smooth operations at the golf course.
“He regularly assists both new and current employees with computer or clubhouse-related issues, often coming in on his off hours to help whenever someone reaches out,” she said. “Because he lives nearby, Jeff is quick to respond when support is needed, and he never hesitates to step in. His dedication, reliability, and willingness to assist others make him an invaluable asset to the course.”
Jeff said he started in the role after retiring from the Shape Corporation in Grand Haven, where he was a shipping and receiving hi-lo driver for 23 years.
“I was retired for two years, and looking for something to keep myself busy,” he said. “It looked like something good for me to get back into.”
On a typical day, he arrives before the golf course opens, gets out the carts, and makes sure they’re stocked for the day. Once the course opens, he switches gears to customer service and running cash sales.
He also assists the grounds crews when they need an extra hand, and helps open and close the golf course for the season.
“I enjoy playing golf, and being able to socialize with other golfers,” he said. When he’s not working, he enjoys activities like playing the guitar and camping.
Congratulations, Jeff, and thank you for your work with the Muskegon Community College Golf Course!
