Edustaff would like to congratulate Megan Mainland on being named the Higher Education Employee of the Month for March.
Megan has been a CPR trainer for 18 years, and six years ago, began teaching CPR as an adjunct faculty member at North Central Michigan College. Last July, she took over as coordinator of the American Heart Association Training Center run through the college.
Megan was nominated by Donna Cannon, administrative manager of Corporate and Community Education at North Central Michigan College.
“I am blown away by the level of service that Megan provides to students, parents, instructors and programs within our college and community, as well as the number of volunteer hours, resources, and philanthropic acts she and her family dedicate their time to consistently,” Donna said. “I truly admire and am in awe of her.”
Megan enjoys teaching the Heartsaver and Basic Life Support classes through the training center at NCMC because they allow her to bring CPR to the community, exposing it to more people. Saving lives is one of the most important things she can think of, and her work at the college “gives me an array of ways to bring CPR into people’s lives,” she said.
Megan also serves as a building substitute at a Petoskey elementary school, volunteers for Petoskey Public Schools’ concession stand and for the sports programs at NCMC, and helps out with a local Rotary Club. She also organizes CPR training for a variety of businesses and organizations not connected to the college.
In addition to spending time with her husband and adult children, her greatest love is volunteering – “doing things that make a difference,” she said.
Thank you, Megan, for all of your work with NCMC and your community!
