Edustaff congratulates Molly Schwass on being named the Higher Education Employee of the Month for January!
Molly works in the Testing Center at West Shore Community College, where she proctors examinations for students at the college. She also works with community members who are getting tested for medical or teaching certifications or taking tests to apply for a new job.
According to WSCC administrative assistant Tasha Dault, Molly always goes above and beyond with the needs of students, staff and community members, and is willing to jump in to assist a student when needed.
Rachel Henderson, Director of Student Services, said Molly’s knowledge of the Testing Center and its detailed operation procedures is outstanding. “She greets all students with a positive attitude and models professionalism. She shares her knowledge with others and is an excellent teammate.”
Molly said that helping test-takers relax and put their mind at ease is a big part of her job.
“Nobody wants to be in the testing center – it’s a stressful environment,” she said. “I’m trying to make connections, make them feel as comfortable as possible, and ease some of the stress so they’re ready to take the test.”
Another part of her job is collaborating with the faculty and staff to make sure the testing process is as efficient as possible.
She has worked in the Testing Center since 2014, and said she genuinely loves getting to know the people who come in.
“A lot of them we see fairly regularly, and I like to see what they’re doing in life, what certifications they’re working on, or what they’re pursuing beyond West Shore.”
When she’s not working, Molly enjoys spending time with her three kids, ages 12 to 15, traveling as a family, and being outdoors.
Congratulations, Molly, and thank you for your work with West Shore Community College!
